Maybe I’ve passed the point of no makeup return, but when I think of date night, my first thoughts are normally something like, “Oooh, let’s pop two different colors in the crease,” or “I wanna layer these three liners for a smokey cat eye gradient, yeah!”
Then again, I do have a tendency to over-complicate things (says the woman who just mixed three different concealers to customize a color for her cheeks).

Bobbi Brown’s new $30 date night Lip & Eye palette tries to keep things easy and streamlined, and even though I don’t normally equate paring down my makeup with date nights, I appreciate its simplicity, because often those holiday palettes with, like, 25 different eyeshadows and 10 different lipsticks are just straight-up overwhelming.
Ready for date night
Sometimes it’s much easier to make a decision when you limit your options, ya know? and I think that’s one of this palette’s strengths. It comes with just enough to put together a pretty date night look, and you can always incorporate other products if you feel like it.
The shades
You get three basic eyeshadows — a dark, pigmented matte black; a sheer matte ivory and a sheer, glittery taupe (for drama!) — as well as two lipsticks — a light pink and a bright magenta — and a shimmery shell pink gloss.

Nothing too fancy, but you know, who wants to do fancy all the time? It’s exhausting.

If you wanted to stick to just the colors in the palette, you could do a wash with the sheer ivory all over your lids, line your lash lines with the matte black, and buff them out with a pencil brush… maybe also pat the sparkly shade on your lids if you’re into glitter.
I’m also wearing MAC give Me sun Bronzer (in my crease and on my face ), L’Oreal Blackest Black Infallible Lacquer liner (lash lines), Ellis Faas Mascara (lashes) and MAC Margin blush (cheeks)
I like to add a couple a lot more things to make the look my own. For these pics, I patted the ivory all over my lids as a base, sculpted my eyes by sweeping a bronzer into the crease, and lined my upper lash line with a black gel liner, which I then smudged out with the palette’s black matte shadow.
Now that’s a look I’ll absolutely wear with El Hub to the movies.
Simple, pretty packaging
As for the quality of products in the palette, I like ’em. No problems with fallout from the shadows, not even the dark shade, which is a big plus, and the pigmented lipsticks and gloss last from 3-5 hours each.

I recommend date night for ladies (and gents!) with light or medium skin tone who wear cool and neutral shades well. Darker damsels and/or ladies who like warmer color temps may not get the most from these colors.
